iis smtp nntp : SMTP - Smart Host>Attempt Direct Delivery

Hi,

I am using:

Server 2003 Standard Edition
Outlook 2002 (from Office XP)
IIS 6.0

All the latest Service Packs and updates are in place.

I have a Smart Host configured which works.

However, if I set <Attempt Direct Delivery Before Sending to Smart Host>

If Direct Delivery fails - the message is not re-sent to the Smart Host.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Colin.

I think I might be mis-interpreting what Attempt Direct Delivery does.

Would I be right that:

Attempt Direct Delivery merely tries to resolve the recipient domain
name e.g.. @mail.com
and if successful, will deliver directly to this domain.

I was trying to get round the increasing problem of Spam Blockers rejecting
mail from my SMTP
Server, because I have a dynamic IP address.
