iis smtp nntp:
for some reason I dont see my SMTP virtual servr in IIS (Windows 2000 IIS 5.0), I already removed and reinstalled SMTP, print and file sharing is installed, removing and reinstalling print and file sharing didnt do anything, I registered the DLL, nothing, the question is now, how can I change the SMTP port from the registry since I cant get in to it from IIS, I tried changing the TcpPort value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ServiceProvider\ServiceT ypes\SMTPSVC, but its still on 25???
The port info, IIRC, is stored in the IIS metabase, not the registry. Grab a copy of MetaEdit from Microsoft. IIRC, it's in LM\SMTPSVC\<n>\ServerBindings, where <n> is the SMTP virtual domain number (usually 1). Note that the syntax of the ServerBindings value is a little tricky; you might want to try playing with changing the bindings via the SMTP Virtual Server Properties dialog in the Internet Services Manager to see the proper syntax. MetaEdit will not run on any of my machines. Gives an error and says it can't access the registry. Logged in as Admin, but still won't run.
