Hi everybody,

I'm having a bit of a problem at one of our clients
sites. When an email is sent to a site where the lowest
cost MX preference is down, Exchange will not try to send
the message to the next lowest cost MX preference (e.g.
mail1.acme.net MX preference = 5, mail2.acme.net MX
preference = 10). This results in an NDR being sent back
to the user from the local server saying that the message
was delayed and timed out.

Any ideas?

Daniel

I am alos looking for a solution to this. There's a known
problem with Win NT Server and the SMTP service which does
not fail over to the next higher cost MX host.

The workaround is to create SMTP connectors to known good
MX hosts for problematic domains.
