iis smtp nntp : SMTP on IIS 6

I recently installed a fresh copy of W2K3 which will host
one of our websites. The site is currently on IIS 5.

Among other thigs the current IIS 5 emails me every time
there is an error in the funtionality of the pages via its
own SMTP Engine.

Everything works just fine in the new site which is
identical to the one onf iis5 but the SMTP engine will not
forward email.

This is what i've tested so far.

I created a tex file with no extension and placed the
following inside:
to:user@domain.com
from:user1@domain.com
subject:testing SMTP

I then drop it in the pick up directory of the mail root
folder. When i do so in IIS5 it works great but in my
other server it never gets sent. It does however get
picked up.

SMTP is pretty vanilla in IIS5 any difference in IIS6

Thanks

Sorry, I guess I forgot to mention that. No event log
messages and nothing goes to the Bad Mail folder.
Has anything change in IIS6 in regards to SMTP?

Thanks

Can you please look in the Event Log for messages related to this.

What DNS sever should be used in the following configuration:

SMTP Server:
Internal IP: 10.0.1.100
External IP: 192.168.1.100

ISP DNS IP: 192.168.1.10
Internal DNS: 10.0.1.10
Internal Domain: mydomain.com

Currently, it's using the internal DNS server and I can send email
EVERYWHERE but to @mydomain.com.

Probably scurity related. Check if the new default settings for the SMTP
service on W2K3 are somehow different from those on W2K. There may be
different default behavior for relaying mails
