To all,

I think this will be an easy one but I just need another
persons perspective.

Regarding SMTP and Exchange. If you have users that use
only OWA(remote users), then have the exchange services
(internal users), is SMTP a required protocol? If not,
what services are then used for sending mail?

This is appreciated.

SMTP is required. SMTP is the native transport for Exchange. If the SMTP
service is stopped you will stop ALL message flow.

Thanks,
Fitz Crittle
