More Authorization Questions
Posted by Evan at 8/20/2004 6:59:00 AM
This doesn't make much sense to me.... Is it not possible
to set my smtp service up so that it requires
authentication, and yet still be able to receive emails
from the outside world? If it's not possible that really
makes for a hard decision. Do I want to leave my email
server open for an... more >>
Expiration Period in IIS SMTP on W2K
Posted by Joe at 8/19/2004 9:09:24 PM
Does anybody know how to set the retries, expiration, and
delay so that a message is retried once and if it fails it
deletes and generates an ndr within an hour? (I realize
that the new ndr will follow the same rules)... more >>
Authentication Problems
Posted by Evan at 8/19/2004 2:51:30 PM
Ok, I finally got everything set up just how I want it...
except the authentication. It is requiring me to
authenticate before sending mail both outside of my
network and inside of my network. I don't want to require
authentication inside my network though. How can I fix
this? I have only ... more >>
Switched DNS MX to new Server, Old Server still Gets Mail - What domain?
Posted by Scott Townsend at 8/19/2004 9:25:03 AM
On 8/5/2004 I switched all of the MX Records for all of our domains to point
to our new SMTP Server.
I've seen the Size of the Log go from 2.5megs a day down to 64K a day. So I
know that I got most of them.
Though there are still about 70 connections a day on the server.
We have about 50... more >>

Posted by Julian at 8/19/2004 5:05:02 AM
My website runs under IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003.
A user tried to send email using one of my web forms, and received an
error from the CGI program which would occur only if the environment
string HTTP_REFERER passed to the program was blank. He is using IE 6
under Win XP, same as me, and the... more >>

Posted by Evan at 8/19/2004 1:29:36 AM
From outside the network I can send to both local network
email addresses and external email addresses. From inside
the network though I can only send to external email

errors:
"Message delivery to the host '209.142.136.72' failed

Address (localhost 127.0.0.1) and another machine on the internal network.
However after reviewing the SMTP Logs, it appears that other computers from
the internet are attempting to use the SMTP Server to relay messages. I
