Hi

I cannot send email to one email address only it returns immediately with
..dat file
in which:

Final-Recipient: rfc822;Office@somedomain.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.3.5

Everywhere else it does send from my address.
I am running my own email server (2003 smtp virtual server)
Please help just where to start looking!!

Thanks
GSL

5.3.5 says it was a permanent error that is likely a routing error.
Can you verify that it's a valid address and that you can find it correctly
(from the server perspective) via DNS (look for both MX and A records)? Can
you also verify the connectivity via telnet commands to verify it is a valid
address that wasn't mis-typed?

!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can do it from telnet 25 to that server
I dont understand
I always thought virstual smtp server is very simple - just takes email that
outlook drops
and find server and sends it thru telnet

Why command prompt telnet can do it and virtual server cannot???!!!
And I can send to that address from my home email/computer no problem
what can I test next?

You may want to increase logging and check the logs to see what's going on.
Alternatively, it might be helpful to get a network trace of the SMTP
conversation. It's possible that this is something to do with the ESMTP
conversation vs. a traditional SMTP conversation. Some mailers have a
problem with that. Did you happen to notice what the remote mailer type is
from the banner?

What DNS server is your SMTP virtual server using to resolve the name?
Clearly it is not connectivity based (telnet shows this).

Enable message tracking and see what that says - could simplify looking
through traces and logs...
