iis smtp nntp: Can anyone tell me if uninstalling SMTP and then reinstalling it will affect
the Exchange Server? I am having strange problems relating to dropped emails
and the SMTP seems to be the cause. I cannot load SP2 for Exchange - it
errors at the SMTP subgroup part of the installation.

Thanks,

John

If you remove and reinstall IIS SMTP then you need to reinstall Exchange on
top and reapply the service pack and any hotfixes. Exchange extends the IIS
SMTP component. Don't worry about reinstalling Exchange you won't lose any
data. If this is a mailbox server, make sure you have a current backup of
Exchange before proceeding.
