iis smtp nntp : SMTP for CDO

I have configured a W2K standalone server to be a webserver. Everything is
functioning fine but now the programmer created a CDO call to the SMTP so
that the web application can send email alert to an external email addresses.
IIS 5.1 has the SMTP installed and is running. How do I configure the
default virtual smtp in IIS to send email? It does not need to receive, its
jeff.nospam NO[at]SPAM zina.com

First, W2K is IIS5, not IIS5.1. Second, SMTP is for sending mail,
install it and you've configured it for sending. You will need proper
firewall ports open, name resolution available and so on of course.
If you tell us a specific point you have a problem at we can probably
get you past it.

Have you configured DNS resolution and if necessary a smart host?
