iis smtp nntp:
Setup - SMTP Default Virtual Server (Machinename - Local Default,
DomainB - Local Custom)

I have a questions about changing the smtp address for NDR's.
Any mail being sent to DomainB that is invalid, gets a NDR
sent out postmaster@<machinename>. I want it to say
postmaster@domainb.com.

I tried using Metaexplorer to change the default domain name
within the metabase, before I rebooted everything was perfect.
Mail was flowing, the NDR's had a good address.
But after reboot, the <machinename> server changed to say
domainb.com on the same virtual server. At that point all mail flow
started bouncing (incoming and outgoing).

I have read postings where poeple say you can't do it, some say
you can by editing the metabase in IIS.

If I delete domainb and rename the default domain in the metabase
again, can I still setup mailboxes within the Local Default for the
Default smtp server?

Any thoughts,

Sounds like you want to masquerade the domain on the SMTP servers.
The masquerade domain is the domain name substituted in the header of an
outgoing message in place of the name of the default local e-mail domain. The
masquerade domain makes the message appear to be from the masquerade domain.
For your convenience, I include the detail steps below:

- Open IIS Manager console.
- Right click Default SMTP virtual server and click Properties.
- Click Delivery-> Advanced.
- Type domain.com in the Masquerade domain section.
- Restart SMTP virtual server to take effect.

Also some times you may need to hide the internal server information, you
also can change the "Fully-qualified domain name" section by the following
steps:

- Open IIS Manager console.
- Right click Default SMTP virtual server and click Properties.
- Click Delivery-> Advanced.
- Type the FQDN you want to display in the header.
- Restart SMTP virtual server to take effect.
