iis smtp nntp:
I am running a Windows 2003 SP1 server and I have SMTP setup to relay
messages. It was working fine for a while but most recently it stopped
relaying messages to certain domains. 1 of the domains is Yahoo.com and the
other is an internal domain. I'm not sure if it happened after SP1 or before.

I get Event Id 4000 Message delivery to the remote domain 'domainname'
failed for the following reason: Destination server does not exist.

I've tried sending email to Google and that works fine. I've tried to stop
and restart the SMTP service, I made sure there was nothing in the Queue
folder, I cleared the Bad Mail folder.

What's really weird is that I setup SMTP to forward all undeliverable
messages to admin@domain.com. So I do get a message saying "undeliverable"
in my admin mailbox. But if I try to send a message from another server to
admin@domain.com thru the SMTP relay server, it fails.

It's weird because I'm thinking... well, if it can find my email address and
domain name just fine when it sends me "undeliverable message", it should
find me when it sends a regular message.

It turned out that our internal Baracuda spam firewall was looking at the
From address field and it was rejecting it because it wasn't a fully
qualified domain name. Once I changed that, it started working just fine.
(instead of just saying JohnDoe@domain... I changed it to JohnDoe@domain.com)
