iis smtp nntp : Can't use IIS SMTP server

I'm trying to use my own PC as an SMTP server for some e-mail accounts whose
SMTP server presents some inconveniences to me. I've configured Outlook 2003
to use the IIS SMTP but when I test the account settings I get the message
(in Brazilian Portuguese - please forgive me the poor translation): "Sending
test e-mail: It is impossible to send the test mail. Check the 'Mail
address' field". The mail address field is totally unrelated to my IIS SMTP,
but think it should work anyway. Other SMTPs do it. What can be wrong?

I'm using IIS 5.1 on Windows XP SP2.

Thanks in advance,

Rosivaldo.

Usually internet service providers that provide home connections block
outgoing smtp for antyhing other than their own smtp server.

In other words, you cannot setup your own smtp server, you need to use the
one provided by your ISP.

This should be somewhere in your terms, otherwise email or call them and ask
them if they do block.

Thanks, KL. I'll try to contact my ISP in order to see their policy about
that.
