iis smtp nntp : IIS as a relay

I am setting up a notification Service Server. I will be using my ISPs SMTP.
My ISP requires authentication.

I was told that I can use the SMTP server that comes with the IIS as a
relay, and can set the required authentication or encryption up on this
server.

Does anyone happen to know anything about this procedure?
[I hope this is enough information for the question]

Delivery-Advanced-Smart Host.

Enter the ISP server's host name, or its IP in square brackets, i.e.
[1.2.3.4].
