As soon as I start SMTP hundreds of non-deliverable emails are sent to the
email I entered copy of delievery report.
Most appear to be from yahoo.tw.

Any idea why and how to prevent this?
Does it do any harm?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I also run SMTP servers and face the same problem.
Ikeepon getting regular delivery report failure, which I suppose is
either spam or virus or something else.

What I suspect is that the SMTP cofiguration has something todo with
it, May beit is allowing relay which spammer are exploiting.

I'm not expert just trying to understand.

Yes, I think we are all trying to understand unfortunately this question
gets ignored.
I have gotton responses on the MSExchange forum but other than adding
another layer of protection I haven't found anything.
But most important I want to be sure no one is actually getting through and
it's just a lot of reporting going on.

I also have not heard if anyone has had success on changing port numbers
(posted on ftp forum).
I have read it is difficult to get it to work properly but supposedly can be
done. This of course includes working with a firewall.

Thanks for responding.

There is a product called ORF that can help eliminate this issue. I'm not
aware of any MS product although they recently purchased some 3rd party mail
plug-in, I think those are for exchange only.
