iis smtp nntp: Hi,

I need to pin a Domain to a specific IP. It seems using the Hosts file
does not work when IIS SMTP is looking up an MX record to send mail.
To be able to send mail to a specific IP that is not in DNS I've had
to create a Remote Domain and specificy the smart host for that domain
in IIS. Is that correct that the hosts file does not play a part in
IIS SMTP? I have no issue with the hosts file and using it for the
web server on the same server (tested).

Thanks,
Dan Foxledy

I doubt you'll be able to use the hosts file for mail. Mail uses MX records
to route messages. There is a tool called smtpdiag that you can use to test
out locally if the entries in the host file will work or not.
