iis smtp nntp : Stand alone mail server help?....

On my Win2003 Server R2 I just want to create a stand alone mail server for
my work group. It's not on a domain, but it will be on my webserver.

I have DotNetNuke and I am unstalling a Mod called YetAnotherForum that
needs the mail server running. I'm at the "Configur POP3 Service" in the
"Configur Your Server Wizard" and I need to know what "Email domain name:"
to put if it's going to be stand alone?

And it will not be tied to any public DNS zone? And will thus not
appear in a public MX RR? And will not send any outbound mail to
remote domains?

What _exactly_ do you mean by "standalone"?

Just going to be used as an internal mail delivery from my forum on my
webserver when users post question. Mail will not be sent out over the
internet, just to the server inbox for me only.

OK... though maintaining POP3 Service seems like overkill for one
private inbox, and I would be more inclined to use SMTP only,
smarthosted to a properly set up (for remote delivery) outbound
gateway, and from there to a real account @ a real domain. That'd give
you the ability to actually _respond_ to messages using this dedicated
mailbox.

I would use the FQHN of the host as the POP3 domain in your scenario.
