Virtual SMTP - Queue Avi

iis smtp nntp:
Hello all,

I'm having an issue that basically keeps my emails that I've sent (using ASP
application on our web Server)
in the Queue instead of sending them to the recipient.

This is what happening:

i. I used my .asp application to generate an email to be sent (to myself for
example).

ii. I've looked and found that the email is stuck in the "queue"
folder on our web server, I manually moved it to the "drop" folder and after
15 min it went back to the "queue" folder.

iii. I've checked the set up for the Smart host and on the
(delivery/advanced) tab there is an i.p. address , it's the i.p
address of our Firewall.
(64.8.218.12) and not our exchange address.

I've selected the "Attempt direct delivery.." check box but still the same.

Any help would be appreciated.

Avi

Is your firewall an SMTP proxy?

Please read my previous n/g posts on this area.

If you want to do direct delivery, ensure that your mailserver can
resolve remote MXs via DNS (UDP/TCP 53) and connect to them via SMTP
(TCP 25). Microsoft's SMTPDIAG is helpful. You also must pass the
PTR-EHLO-A roundtrip test I refer to frequently.

If you expect to use 64.8.218.12 as your smarthost instead of your
mailserver doing direct, [a] it should be in square brackets
[64.8.218.12]; [b] _it_ must be able to fulfill all of the
requirements above.
