Not sure if there is anyway to do hots on sql server .From all I have
heard an EMC can do clones and fractures in order to implement a hot
backup or some kind of it in sql server.
Seemingly the DBA has to do something to
enable the fracture of the clone . Is anyone familiar with this ?
Your input is highly appreciated

SQL Server provides a Virtual Device Interface that allows software vendors
to provide custom backup solutions, like snapshot backups. AFAIK, a DBA
doesn't need to do anything special. The vendor backup software takes care
of sending the commands needed for SQL Server suspend physical I/O during
the operation.

Hope this helps.
