Can't connect to SQL Server 2005 Express -- sql server (microsoft)

I just installed SQL Server 2005 Express edition, but I can't connect to the
server.

The service is running, and I enabled all the protocols with the
configuration manager.
I tried connecting with the local installed SQL Express manager, and
remotely with SQL Server Enterprice Manager, and Database Manager 4.0 from
Teratrax, but I can't get connected.
I even disabled Windows Firewall, but no go...

Who can help me out?

Not sure if this will help, it's for sql server w2k, but it covers all the
bases.
