Cannot reistall SQL server 2000 Dev ed -- sql server (microsoft)

Hi
Had to transfer all apps etc from a HD of a fried computer to a LapTop using
PC Relocator.
Most things transfered good except MS Developer Edition SQL 2000

Did an unitsall of SQL 2K when I saw it wasnt listed in the Services

When I try to Install from the CD a message comes saying
"A previous program installation created pending file operations on the
installation machine, Yuo must restart computer before running setup"

I have restarted and shut down many times

OS XP Pro
Compaq rs4035

Any help would be greatly appreciated

There's a program called Windows Installer Cleanup Utility in the w2000 SDK,
I believe, but it can be found as a separate download somewhere, too.
Filename is "msiuu.exe" and it's about 40k bytes, ie. real small. I used
when I could not access VS to install some features, and could not uninstall
it either. It fixed my problems. Also fixed a VFP 9 beata uninstall probelm.
If you can't find it I could email it to you.
