Hi

Is there any known problems/issues using a 2000 sql client
to connect to a 6.5 sql server.

thanks

I am guessing that Query Analyzer should work. You might have problems =
with Enterprise Manager.

Enterprise Manager will not work. If you mean just client machines using
MDAC 2.6 or above then you ahould not have any problems.

One of my developers needs to connect to both types as
well. He says that EM for 2000 won't connect to the 6.5
and that the 6.5 client won't let him use the Table
variable type in 2000. He reloaded the 2000 client and
that caused 6.5 connections to cease to funtion at all.
Let me know if you find a way to connect to both. There
might be some magical combination of clients that allows
for that. Just another EM shortcoming in my book. For
folks who are migrating from 6.5 to 2K it could come in
very handy to have a way to manage easily both types of
systems.

I've got both 2000 and 6.5 clients installed and both seem to work together
perfectly OK.

The Query Analyser for either client will connect to either server. The
client configuration tool works on the same set of aliases. Enterprise
Manager is specific to 6.5 or 2000.I have had both loaded at the same time
as well and they both worked.

If I have to connect to a SQL 7 database then the 2000 EM works with that.
