Hi,
I am running 7.0 SQL Server database. Can I install and use the 2000
Client against this server? Are there any data corruption issues with
this?.

thanks

You can access SQL 7.0 database using SQL 2000 client. No issues of any
sort.

SQL Query Analyzer and ISQL /w will go against any version of SQL. SQL
Enterprise Manager will tell you if you have the right version of it for the
SQL server you are using.

In fact I recommend installing SQL 2000 tools to connect to SQL 7 and 2000
at the same time.

Can you install the SQL 2000 Tools without owning SQL
2000. We have an SQL 7.0 machine and We are planning an
upgrade to 2000, and I am currently imaging new machines
for the IT SQL Staff. I would like to install the 2000
tools now instead of waiting till the upgrade happens in
the second quarter of 2004.

No, you need to have a valid license for SQL Server 2000. Pick up the
Development edition, I believe it's $49.00
