sql server clients : Oracle connect to AS400

We have a need to connect Oracle 8.1.7 running on Solaris Unix to AS400
Data residing on a V5R1M0. I know we can use a gateway product, but can
we also use ODBC running on the Solaris box?

Has anyone done this?

I'm guession you posted this here because of the odbc
component. To answer your question, you can connect from a
process running on the Unix machine to a database on the
AS400 using odbc, but you can't use odbc to "connect" the
databases, i.e. you can't use odbc to allow you to define
a database link from the oracle database to the AS400
database. Database links only use SQL net or Oracle's
