sql server clustering : problem with teaming NICS

Hello,

We have a SQL2000 2-node cluster on Win2003. Each server has 2 NIC's, but
currently only 1 is active on each box. Everything worked great until we
teamed the NICS, at which point Cluster Administrator would no longer
connect to either node. However, the teaming itself seemed to be configured
correctly as we were able to connect to other servers on the LAN. Is there
something else we need to do?

Hi,

Did you team the private NIC?
You should ideally team the public NICs only in a cluster

If you teamed the NICs after the cluster service was installed you will have
to make the cluster aware of the new teamed NIC.

Teaming NICs is not supported on the private (nee
heartbeat) network. And teaming would have had to have
been tested on the public network prior to installing the
Windows Server cluster.

Teaming is not generally recommended in a cluster
configuration on the public NICs ...
