Hi Guys,
We have been having issues with the SQL Server 70 cluster
(Active/Passive) sp3 which was installed even before i joined my client. It
keeps failing over every night automatically and its because of one of the
resources called VSRVSVC.EXE (it says generic service on the cluster
administrator) keeps going down and SQL Server 70's network name and ip
addresses are dependent on that...Could you guys please let me know what is
this VSRVSVC.EXE all about ? And also does SQL Server's ip address ane
Network name needs to be dependent on that...Please Let me know...I would
apprecaite you guys help on this..

Thanks,

Hello,
The VSRVSVC.EXE corresponds to the Virtual Server resource. At the time
of failure, what errors do you see in the event logs?

regarding dependencies,
-The SQL VServer resource depends on the SQL network name resource.
- The SQL network name resource depends on the SQL IP address resource.
- The SQL IP address resource and the physical disk resources do not depend
on any resources.

Refer to the following articles for more details on dependencies.

Thanks Deepali...I dont see any information on the SQL Server error
logs...All you see is SQL Server shutting down due to stop request from
Service control Managar...Also on the Windows NT System Event log, all you
see is the below error
Cluster resource 'SIEBELVIR VServer' failed.

You can also check the cluster.log for details on why a resource failed.
