At the bottom of KB article 827449 there is a link to KB
article 812666 which is exactly what is needed to recover
the Full text search option in a SQL cluster. By following

It appears that article, 812666, contains information that we haven't
thoroughly tested and we are holding off making it public until we're
confident that it's correct. (As soon as we have sufficient data and real
scenarios, we can make it public.) So including that link in 827449 was a
mistake and I've just sent mail asking that it be removed. If you must have
access to that information, you'll need to open a case with Customer Service
and Support (the new name for PSS - Product Support Services) and have a
support engineer walk you through it.

If you don't know how to open a case, you can start with the Contact
Microsoft link at http://support.microsoft.com/.

Stephen,
Thanks for the reply! Would this constitute a paid
for incident support? Although, our company has premier
support, due to the politics, those of us that have the
opportunity to support these technologies do not have
access to it. I thought this newsgroup was an alternative
and that is why I posted the question here. Is there a way
to acquire the steps or procedure?
Thanks again,
Dude

Stephen is recommending you open an incident. That is good advice. If you
do not have access to a prepaid support agreement, then it will be on a pay
per incident basis. While I do not and cannot speak for Microsoft, I
believe they have a policy that if the problem is known internally but the
fix is not publicly available, your payment for that incident will be
refunded. Either way, it sounds like the problem is worth at least the $250
for the call.

As for this newsgroup, I think of it as more a supplement to paid help
rather than an alternative. When the pros say 'make the call', they aren't
trying to drum up business, they are trying to give you the best advice they
can.

Make the call.

I'll basically say the same thing as Geoff, but it'll come directly from
Microsoft in case that helps in some small way. :-)

Frankly, I don't know whether or not it will be a free call. I'm not on the
support team and only know that they have a policy of refunding the money
for calls relating to known bugs. I do not know whether or not this is
considered a bug.

Yes, this newsgroup is one of the alternatives to paying for support, but
there's no guarantee that you'll get a response from anybody out here unless
you're an MSDN subscriber and are either using the email alias that you
provided when you subscribed, or the anti-spam alternative that you provided
on the MSDN website (starting here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/managed/).

If you need that procedure, you'll have to take your chances and open up a
support case. Sorry!
