SQL Server is terminating due to 'stop' request from SCM XY

sql server clustering:
SQL 2000 (no service pack installed yet) on Win2000

My newly configured failover cluster is experiencing sudden stops of the SQL Server service and subsequent restarts of the service. The last error log terminates with the following message:
SQL Server terminating due to 'stop' request from Service Control Manager

It is very much like the problem discribed in the following link <http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;185806>. However, that was a bug on 6.5.

Has anyone experience the same problem on SQL Server 2000 ?

Thanks in advance for your help

I would service pack it (3a) and then continue testing.

Cheers,
