Need to add additional NIC to SQL cluster - to enable teaming.
Posted by at 2/21/2005 12:43:51 PM
Hi I have 2 questions, but related! We currently have a Windows 2000 Adv server running SQL Ent 2000 as a 2 node cluster. Each node currently has 2 NICs installed, one NIC for the local heartbeat and the other for the LAN connection. We now need to add another NIC to each cluster nod...more >>

issues with replication on a cluster?
Posted by ChrisR at 2/19/2005 12:40:13 PM
OK please forgive me. I dont normally cross post, or ask the same question twice, but Im in quite a pickle here. Ive been using replication in a non clustered environment for years now. Ive never seen extreme slowness with the initial snapshot of replication like Im seeing currently. And to to...more >>

SQL Failover problem.
Posted by C-Ya at 2/17/2005 3:47:03 PM
I have multiple (2) instances of sql 2000 running on my windows 2003 cluster. I have the default instance owned by server1 and a named instance owner by server 2. If I shutdown server 1 then my default instance fails over to server2. Now server two is running both. (no problem). If I shutd...more >>

Hi, 1. What is the use of Multiple-Instances of Sql server? 2. If I have only 1 Database, which Mode can I use (Active/Active or Active/Passive) and why? 3. What is the difference between Active/Active and Active/Passive modes other than the fact that only Active mode holds the shared d...more >>

Dear all, We need to move SQL 2000 Cluster on Win 2003 server box from test to prod domain. What are the steps we need to follow to make sure SQL 2000 cluster is up and running in the new domain. I know that we need to change the service account from window services. Can we change the IP add...more >>

Active/Active configuration queries
Posted by Pankaj A. Chitriv at 2/16/2005 1:03:58 PM
Hi, I completely understand that SQL-Clustering is failover technology and not a load balancing technology. 1. What I'm wondering is when you go for Active/Active mode, then whether both the nodes communicates with the single instance of shared device or only 1 node communicates with it?...more >>

Our server team has set up an EMC Clarion SAN with 3 sets of RAID 5 arrays, several RAID 1 arrays and other drives/arrays for snapshots. The first server we are installing has the data going to an 80 GB slice an an 8 disk RAID 5 array and the logs going to a 20 GB slice on a 5 disk RAID 5 array. ...more >>

Collation and Win2K3 Clustered Environment.
Posted by MikeH at 2/16/2005 6:39:08 AM
This past weekend I was challenged a little in resolving what I hoped was a simple collation issue. We are running Win2K3 Ent. Clustering Services, SQL Server 2000 Enterprise, b.8.00.760. On Friday, 2.11, a user migrated an application to this new clustered setup and immediately received th...more >>

Does clustering supports dynamic disk mirroring with SAN? As cluster has single point of failure of disk, we want to mirror the databases. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks ...more >>
