Can't ping cluster - need help
Posted by Mike G. at 5/20/2005 8:53:24 AM
Recently set up a cluster and it seems to be working up to a point.
Have run into a problem trying to ping the cluster IP address from a
node not owning any resources, or from outside the cluster. Pinging
from the node that owns everything works, and if I move over the MSDTC
then the second node... more >>

Backup of SAN databases
Posted by Randy Rabin at 5/18/2005 6:38:26 PM
I'm looking for some "best practices" help from the SAN gurus out there.
We're looking to move some of our databases to an EMC SAN. Currently we run
full backups every night and tran logs every 15 minutes, which are then used
by logshipping to restore to warm standby servers.
After moving to... more >>
How would you answer?

My boss issued a challenge at lunch today: Find out if SQL can cluster to
support thousands of end-users with hundreds of thousands of trans per
minute, or we start looking at Oracle.
What do I say to him?
Thanks

How to differentiate process instances in perfmon

In a multi-instance cluster, how can you match a named sql server instance
with an instance of sqlservr.exe? When setting up counter collection in
perfmon, I choose the "process" performance object, then the "% processor
time" counter". In list of instances, I can see sqlservr#1, sqlservr#2, e... more >>

Adding a node to a one-node functional cluster
Posted by Patrick Mac Kay at 5/17/2005 12:00:00 AM
Hi everybody,
due to a busy server (the 2nd node), I couldn't install the two nodes in
one step, and I was forced to install a cluster with one node, and bring it
online with the production database. Now everything works fine (in one node
of course) and I'd like to install the second node.... more >>

Hi,
I have problems with sending mails within clustered MS SQL Server 2000.
I configured mail profiles on both nodes (with the same name) - I can send
mail within MS Outlook (which is a default mail client).
There is no profile on drop down list in SQL Mail section (server
properties).
