sql server clustering : what if ClusterIP is on Node A and SQL Server is on NodeB

I assume you mean the Cluster resource group which includes the Cluster IP
address, Cluster Network name, and Quorum disk? There is no problem with
having the cluster group on one node and a SQL Server Virtual server on
another node. With SQL 2000, all nodes are equivalent once the installation
is complete.

That's what I thought, since the sql was still running fine on the other node.
