sql server clustering:
Hello,

We are seeing a very bizarre occurence in the config mgr. I have a
win2k3/sql2k5 2-node, single instance cluster. When we look in the config
mgr., the SQL VIP is not present. I have IPs for the the "passive node," the
Cluster VIP, the heartbeat IP, and the loopback IP. However, the SQL VIP is
active and listening on 1433.

Is this some sort of bug in the GUI? Let me know.

I don't know whether it's a bug or not. But I see this all the time (not
always). It is definitely something with the tool, not the cluster itself.
SQL2005 Configuration Manager for some reason is not cluster aware, which is
a kind of anachronism by now.

How incredibly bizarre. Looks like I'll be calling PSS tomorrow. We have 6
2K5 clusters up and running now with at least 4 more coming by the end of
this month.

Thanks for your help Linchi.

Were you able to get a resolution to this issue?
I've got a similar problem with a SQL Server 2005 64-bit clustered
server. In my Configuration Manager, I can only see SSIS. I don't see
any of the other services.

I imagine that it's a 64-bit cluster issue rather than a just a 64-bit
issue because I have a couple other standalone 64-bit SQL 2005 installs
that do not have this problem.

I've been working with PSS for over a month to resolve with no luck yet.
