sql server clustering : Memory Allocation - Win2k3 SP1 and SQL Server 2K SP4

I have a SQL Server cluster with 4 Dual Core 3.0Ghz Processors and 8 GB

of RAM. I have PAE and AWE enabled on the server, but I cannot get SQL

Server to access more than 4GB of RAM (using perfmon- SQLServer:Memory
Manager/Total Server Memory). I would like to allocate nearly all of
the available memory on the machine to SQL Server.

I seem to have the same symptons described in this MS article-
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=899761, but I get a "No
Qualifying Products" error when I try to install the HOTFIX.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't mention which edition and version of SQL Server you are using.
What about the OS?

Agreed they did not say if they were clustering or not.

I hate when that happens<g>. I never expect details to be in the subject
line. We still need to know the Editions of each though.

Yes they did. First line:
"I have a SQL Server cluster with..."

And it does sound like they should be able to install the hotfix.

I suggest making sure they are logging in from a domain account with local
admin privs, makng sure the windows scheduler works, and making sure they
are starting the install from the noe that currently owns the SQL resource
group.

Yes but you can cluster Developer Edition :)

But it reacts exactly like Enterprise Edition for this purpose. :)

I apologize for semantics of my question. I would like to get back to
the original question. Does anyone have any information with regards
to problem I'm experiencing?

We really were waiting for you to supply the editions of the OS and SQL
Server. If you are not running one of the editions that support above 4GB
then this message is valid. If you are sure you are running a valid edition
I would give MS PSS a call as it sounds like you do qualify for the AWE bug
and they should be able to tell you why it errors.

Windows 2K3 Enterprise and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise SP4 are the
versions.

Yes, Windows 2K3 Enterprise and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise SP4 are the
versions. Enterprise edition of both are required for clustering.

Yes sorry, you did mention it was a cluster. I would give MS PSS a call then
as the hotfix is required to get the full amount of AWE memory available.
If the hotfix doesn't like something then they should tell you what it is
and how to address it. They will refund your money for the call if it is in
fact a bug.
