sql server clustering : SQL Server Cluster Install Fails

The first pass at my SQL Server 2005 active/active install failed..

It appears to be complaining about the task scheduler on the other node, but
it is running..

I found the following article:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms180849(SQL.90).aspx

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it
has no enabled devices associated with it.

I know the task scheduler service is started on both nodes, I don't know
what "no enabled devices associated with it" means.

Error Log:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 9.00.1399.06

==============================

OS Version : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family, Enterprise Edition
Service Pack 1 (Build 3790)

Time : Fri Mar 31 11:14:41 2006

Task did not appear to start on machine: \\WEBDSETE02: 267013

Hi Racer,

I'm actually just installing SQL 2005 on a two node cluster also, and
have just come across this error. I've also checked my Task Scheduler
service on both machines and it is in the "started"status. I'm not
sure what the "no enabled devices associated with it" but I'll keep
searching for some answers and let you know if/when I find some! The
only thing I can think of is to ensure the RPC service is started (mind
you, you'd probably know about it if it wasn't as it has so other
services dependant on it)...

In Task Scheduler I can see my SQL job sitting there, but with the Last
Result as "0x11174"...I can't run it, even when I try manually.

Lets hope someone else has come across this?

I had this same problem. I spent a day trying to troubleshoot. The
answer for me was don't install from terminal server (remote desktop).
Install locally.

You can also connect to machine /console with RDP - work great!
