I disagree. One thing about the HCL is it is not a "grab bag". Each system
on there not only has to be on the list but provided in a cluster-ready
configuration from the manufacturer. That pretty much eliminates
mix-n-match clusters. The big exception is where the storage manufacturer
is different than the host manufacturer which is actually pretty common in
middle to high end clustered systems. Given that the goal of a clustered
system is to increase system availability, and having an asymmetrical system
would increase complexity and thus decrease availability, you might find
yourself decreasing availability with an improperly built cluster.
