Maybe Friday isn't the best time to ask, but here goes...
To improve our single instance sql2000 to High Availability standards, I'm
looking into clustering, log shipping, etc.

We are totally sql2k now, so we would tend to stay there. Are there any HA
features in Sql2005 that are not in Sql2000?

Yes, Database Mirroring give you another option for HA without the cost and
hassle that clustering requires.

Isn't it equally valid to state that "Clustering gives you another option for
HA without the cost and hassle that Database Mirroring requires."

These are two different technologies for different purposes, depending on
what you want to protect aginst.

Of course, you're correct about that. I guess I could have been a little
more 'diplomatic'.

Be sure to install SP1 before using mirroring.
