I am new to MS SQL and would like to break a SQL Server 2000 cluster and leave the database in tact. I have 2 HP DL380's with an HP StorageWorks SAS device. I know there is a public network for all application communication and one
for hearbeat .
Are there any more ?
Does one connect the hearbeat network to like a local hub for the nodes or
to the same public network ( dont know if im stating this right) ? Whats

I have 2 new servers I want to setup for clustering of SQL 2005 Enterprise
Edition. Do I setup a Windows Cluster and setup SQL 2005 on both servers? Do
I setup Windows then setup the Clustering within SQL 2005? Or both?

getting a clustered instance to recognize a new drive

I've added another cluster resource drive to the group and sql 2000
instance is in. Sadly, the instance is not recognizing the drive,
which is making it pretty hard to create backup devices on the new
drive. which is why i added the new drive. Is there some trick to this
that i'm missing, or is ... more >>

Can additional nodes be safely added to the cluster without taking the
entire cluster offline ?
So for instance, if we have a 2 node single cluster today, can i add 2 more
nodes to make it a 4 node 3 instance cluster without taking the current 2
node cluster offline while doing so ?
