Have a weird one. I was running windows update on my nodes.
My passive node reports that it needs SP1
My active node doesnt need it .

I am really curious with all these SAN technologies and that all of it calls
for quiescing the disks i.e. stopping writes for a brief sec(s) to take a
snapshot..
How does one write applications or consider uptime in a situation as such ?

We have been running a standalone SQL2005 box which uses a dedicated
webserver for the last 12 months and both sit on our perimeter (DMZ) zone.
The SQL box is now due to be replaced by a failover SQL cluster. Failover
clusters requires domain access and therefore it will have to sit on the

We have datawarehouse servwer with Active/Active cluster.
One node has 8GB Ram and another node has 12GB.
Right now I have configured for both the nodes the Max.Sql Server Memory to
be 8GB.
Both the nodes are running with windows 2003 SP1and SQL Server 2000 SP4 with
the 8 CPU.

I do not have another IA64 machine to cluster against. Can I cluster this
