sql server clustering: Hello. We have a SQL Server 2000 2-none Active-Active Cluster
configuration. There are (3) physical NICs in each node. Within
Cluster Administrator, under the "Cluster Configuration" there are
three "Networks":

1. "WAN Connection" [Used for all connections to the SQL Server
Cluster from users, app servers, etc...]
2. "Heartbeat" [Used for the direct connection between the nodes]
3. "NAS" [Used for network connection via iSCSI to our NetApp filer
where the SQL Server DB data resides]

Under the Properties of each, there are three options under "This
network performs the following role in the cluster:"
A. "Client access only (public network)"
B. "Internal cluster communications only (private network)"
C. "All communications (mixed network)"

Please let me know what each of the above "Networks" should be set to
for the roles, A, B or C?

This is my guess:

1. "WAN Connection" = C
2. "Heartbeat" = B
3. "NAS" = B

Thanks in advance for your expertise.

Michael,

Incorrect, you should remove the "NAS" network from cluster, so cluster does
not use it. You only want iSCSI traffic on this.
